The Essex charity stages is the only remaining multi stage event in the southeast having been run in one form or another for the last 25 years. . The stages are unique as they provide mixed surface rallying at a low cost compared to a forest event or tyre wear experienced on tarmac events. The event uses farm tracks, broken concrete tracks and a disused airfield. The optimum tyre choice would be pre used M&S however some more adventurous competitors did try tarmac tyres on the airfield last year with some spectacular cornering techniques. This year the event is sponsored by 1st Race & Rallying a local company specialising in the sales, service and refill of motorsport fire extinguishers. Wickford Auto Club would also like to thank all the land owners and local residents who without their assistance we would not be able to run the event. The event is run in an area of Essex known as the “Dengie” , this rural setting has limited access for conventional ambulances and therefore more reliant than most on the service of the Air Ambulance. For this reason we fell that by supporting the Air Ambulance is helping the local community if they are ever in need of the service in an emergency. Stage descriptions:- Disused Airfield and farm roads comprising of broken concrete, gravelled tarmac with patches of loose gravel and farm materials. Grass on to concrete and tarmac farm tracks. (NB grass very slippy when wet conditions) Tarmac private farm road on to loosed farm track gravel & grass returning to tarmac road. (NB grass & loose very slippery when wet conditions)
